Objectives: This study examined what factors well reflect problem drinking and how the factors influence on alcohol consumption behaviors among Korean men.
Method: Ordered Probit Analysis was conducted over ordered dependent variables of alcohol consumption behaviors among 4,747 Korean men using the 2012 Korean Health Panel.
Result: On the effects of variables associated with alcohol consumption behaviors, the directions of the effects on average volumes and patterns of drinking are quite different.
Conclusion: The probability of having problem drinking is influenced by individual health status, which varies from person to person. Establishing a health policy on drinking, our finding suggests that focusing on the more objective measures-alcohol consumption behaviors is needed, and that the behaviors are needed to examined respectively to understand problem drinking.
